MOROCCAN NATURAL OILS — THE COMPLETE COLLECTION
Natural Moroccan Oils: Cold-Pressed Argan, Prickly Pear & Fragrance-Rich Blends
Argan is the backbone of Moroccan botanical care — cold-pressed in the Souss cooperatives, versatile enough to nourish skin and hair, distinct enough to build an entire skincare tradition around. Green Mood's oil collection covers the three formats this heritage takes: pure oils for uncompromising skincare, scented argan oils for daily body and hair care with an olfactive signature, and culinary argan oil for the traditional Moroccan kitchen.
This parent category groups all our natural oils into three pillars. Below you'll find the pillar map, the eight hero references across the whole collection, and a decision guide for choosing between pure and scented depending on your intended use.
Three Pillars of the Green Mood Oil Collection
Each pillar answers a specific use case. Click through to explore the full subcategory.
Pure Oils
Cold-pressed argan and prickly pear seed oil in their purest form — no additives, no fragrance. The reference for face care, sensitive skin, and targeted concerns.
EXPLORE PURE OILSScented Argan Oils
Five scented argan oils — Orchid, Hibiscus, Musk, Orange Blossom, Candy. Same cold-pressed argan base, layered with a distinct olfactive signature for body and hair.
EXPLORE SCENTED ARGANCulinary Oils

Pure or Scented Argan Oil?
Same base, same quality
All scented argan oils in this collection start from the same cold-pressed argan base as the pure version — the fragrance is a layered addition, not a substitute. Nourishing quality is identical between the two.
When to prefer pure
On the face, on sensitive scalp, for children, or when you're using the oil in a targeted or medical context (post-treatment, dermatological routine). Pure argan is the reference for face care and any situation where fragrance is not appropriate.
When to prefer scented
On the body, on the hair as daily finish, as massage oil, as a sensory ritual — when you want care and olfactive signature in the same gesture. After the shower, before dressing, as evening ritual on the arms and décolletage.
Culinary vs Cosmetic Argan: Critical Distinction
Two different products from the same tree
Both come from the argan tree (Argania spinosa) native to Morocco's Souss region. But cosmetic and culinary argan are produced by different processes and are not interchangeable.
Cosmetic argan
Cold-pressed from raw kernels. Golden pale yellow, nearly odorless, ideal for face, body, hair. Long shelf life. Do not consume — the process doesn't develop the roasted flavor and the cosmetic use case doesn't require food-grade equipment throughout.
Culinary argan
Cold-pressed from roasted kernels. Deep amber colour, distinctive nutty aroma, edible use only. The oil of amlou (the traditional Moroccan almond-argan-honey paste), the drizzle over tagines, the finish on couscous. Not suitable as skincare — the roasted kernels change the composition.
The rule
Cosmetic argan is for skin; culinary argan is for the plate. Never substitute one for the other. Green Mood produces both in separate food-grade and cosmetic-grade lines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use argan oil on my face every day?
Yes, and it's the standard use — 2 to 4 drops at night on cleansed skin, warmed between the palms, gently pressed into the face rather than rubbed. Argan is well tolerated by all skin types, including sensitive and combination. For very oily skin prone to breakouts, prefer pure argan over scented and reduce to 1 to 2 drops.
Why is prickly pear oil so expensive?
Because it's genuinely rare — nearly one ton of prickly pears (about 500,000 seeds) is needed to produce a single litre of oil. Every step is manual, from harvest through cold-pressing. The price reflects actual production cost, not marketing markup. That's also why prickly pear is used drop by drop, on targeted zones, rather than in large quantities.
Is scented argan oil as good as pure for hair?
Yes — same cold-pressed argan base, same nourishing action on the hair fibre. Scented variants add an olfactive signature that some people prefer for daily use. On sensitive scalp, or in a strict clarifying context, pure argan remains the neutral reference. For most people, either format works equally well for finishing ends and pre-wash oil baths.
Can I use cosmetic argan oil in cooking?
No — cosmetic argan is not food-grade and doesn't develop the roasted-kernel flavour that makes culinary argan a kitchen ingredient. Use Culinary Argan Oil specifically, which is produced from roasted kernels through a distinct food-grade process.
How long do Green Mood oils keep?
Cold-pressed cosmetic argan keeps 12 to 24 months after opening when stored away from light, at room temperature, with the cap sealed. Prickly pear is slightly more fragile: 12 to 18 months. A rancid smell or clearly changed colour signals the oil should be replaced.
Can I combine multiple oils in the same routine?
Yes — and it's the most complete routine for demanding skin or hair. Pure argan as base, prickly pear drop by drop on the most demanding zones (eye area, forehead lines). Scented argan can substitute pure argan on the body for daily use, with the added olfactive signature.
